OPEN LETTER TO THE DEPUTY GOVERNOR, DR. OBAFEMI KADIRI HAMZAT

Dear Mr Deputy Governor,
Pardon us, as your staunch followers, for we do not know any longer at this juncture, whether to felicitate with you on your new appointment as the Chairman, APC Local Government Screening and Council Election Committee and Primary Elections Committee, or even begin to weep for the consequential tendencies of nepotism, cronyism and favouritism that can be commandeered by your new position as recently depicted in some widely circulated write ups.

At first, we deemed this write up unnecessary but as the fear and agitations of tilting the table towards your personal inclinations continues to gradually metamorphosize from cheer probability into bitter reality given your level of susceptibility to nepotism as confirmed by your recent underground political engagement of some leaders, in some Local Governments of interest to the same end. For this reason, we find this write up inevitable as a people who still believe in the exceptional rare leadership qualities you portray as an individual guided on the principle of Godliness.

First, it will be highly disappointing if those insinuations were eventually found to be true. Besides, it will also be heartbroken if you would allow your integrity to be punctured or even dent the outstanding image of an “ideal politician” which you have built for years based on the foundation of fairness and transparency which we strongly believe was substantially what earned you this new position.

Artistotle prosified: "Equals should be treated equally and unequals unequally." Favoritism, cronyism, and nepotism all consciously or unconsciously interfere with fairness because they uncompromisingly grant undue advantage to someone who does not necessarily merit some benefits or positions. This exactly is the fear of the people.
In the domocratic sphere, the above mentioned vices undermine the common good and the very essence of democracy. When someone is granted a position because of family ties or relationships rather than because he or she has the best credentials, experience, or endorsement by the masses, the service that person eventually renders to the public will definitely be inferior.

Sir, as it is much so that there is no such thing as benefit of doubt in your case  political discussion across local governments especially the ones where you have strong family base and tentacles, we cannot but implore you not to allow these insinuations stain your reputation.
