COVID-19 LOCKDOWN: LASU TO COMMENCE ONLINE LECTURES FOR STUDENTS ON MONDAY

In line with the directive of the Governor of Lagos State and Visitor to the University, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State University will on Monday, 13th April, 2020 commence virtual (online) classes for it's students across all levels and campuses.
These decisions were announced on Thursday, 9th April, 2020 by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olanrewaju Adigun Fagbohun, SAN, NPOM, in a virtual meeting with leaders of the Students Union of the University. He informed that a mail containing personalized log-in details would soon be sent to each student through their registered email addresses with the University, and urged all students to fully participate in the online classes by logging in to the Envivo platform using the log-in details that will be sent to them.

According to Prof. Fagbohun, the Governor's directive is to ensure minimal disruption to the academic calendar of the institution during the period of lockdown : "we resolved that despite the lockdown, all our students must he fully engaged with their academic work. We do not want a disruption in our academic calendar. Hitherto, we were working using a mix of options to hold online classes. Now, Mr Governor has streamlined all that, and further directed that lectures must begin by Monday using the Envivo platform. We are already exchanging relevant data to ensure that no student is left behind."

He urged the students leaders to immediately begin aggressive sensitization of students as no excuse would be entertained for non-participation: "the University Management and Deans have been holding series of meetings to ensure that our students have seamless access to the the virtual classes and because you the students leaders are critical to this project, that is why we are carrying you along. Go and sensitize your members to attend their lectures, " he said.

The Vice Chancellor further assured the students leaders of the University's readiness to address whatever genuine challenges their members may face in the course of attending classes, or doing/submitting assignments.

Members of extended University Management, including Deans of Faculties, and other critical stakeholders in the University also participated in the virtual meeting.
